On-Going Classes Adult: (available year round) Adult students begin lessons ($22) by making a T-shirt (pattern, fabric, and thread are included in the onetime registration fee $25). In doing so, a student will begin to hear the language of sewing. For example: bobbin, grain line, and selvage edge. The instructor will teach how to take a few basic body measurements, read a pattern, lay out the pattern pieces, and assemble a project. When a student signs up she or he will make a reservation for a seat in a class. That reservation is for the same class time each week or every other week (a student’s choosing) and is two hours long with no more than 7 students. The classes are equipped with Bernina brand sewing machines as well as sewing supplies. A student may wish to bring his or her own machine in order to become familiar with it and is encouraged to do so. Child: (available from Sept – May*) Children ages 8 to 16 will learn begin lessons ($21) by making a pair of pants with elastic. (pattern, fabric, and thread are included in the onetime registration fee $25) Children’s classes are on-going from September to the end of May. Then Making It’s summer schedule goes into effect. Required Materials: We require that each student is equipped with five essential tools: Scissors, pins, seam ripper, seam gauge, and measurement tape.
